Lore Horré’s photographic work originates from a deep interest in how images can appear, investigating the tension between their two-dimensional representation and their three-dimensional reality.

In her work she uses this limited space of the captured image to generate unlimited possibilities for these images to function within. Pushing beyond conventional boundaries by treating the photographic image not just as representation but as an autonomous object.

The photographic process can be compared with the proces of a choreography. In the same way a certain route is created for a dancer to perform in, the images receive a stage to function and perform within. Through the different works there is always the tension between the original context, in which a certain scene was captured, and the mediated image on its own. The images are always evolving, in a perpetual process of becoming something new. This dynamic process invites endless new ways of showing and endless new ways of seeing, in which the image never reaches a definitive state, but the state in which it is shown in a certain time and space.

There is a constant tension between the image’s original context and its presence an autonomous object, questioning the state of an image and how it can or will appear. Where should the photographic image begin and where should it cease to exist?
